Doctoral Position in Economics at University of Goettingen, Germany

The Chair of Development Economics and International Economics offers two positions as Doctoral Student (50%) to be filled by January 1, 2010.

Job description:
The vacant positions enter an interdisciplinary environment at the intersection of applied economics and political science. Our areas of expertise include macroeconomics,international economics , political economy, and international organizations – all with particular focus on economic development. Background skills in econometrics are required.

Job profile and requirements:
Candidates are expected to have an excellent university degree (master or diploma) in economics or political science with emphasis on applied methods. Proficiency in English in speaking and writing is essential. Knowledge of German is helpful but not required.

We offer a two-year fixed-term contract, potentially renewable for another two years. As a doctoral student, you are expected to write your dissertation in an area related to the economics of international migration, human trafficking, human trafficking- related crimes (such as transnational organized crimes and corruption) and human rights. Salary is based on the collective bargaining agreement of the German federal states (TV-L, salary level 13). The position involves no teaching.
